Carolyn Veith Krienke - Bio

Carolyn Veith Krienke

Surprisingly I started out graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a MS in biomedical visual communication. After spending 2 years as a freelance medical illustrator/designer I realized that my artistic side trumped my interest in medicine and moved to New York in 2000 to pursue design and photography. Being in New York gave me the opportunity to work as an art director in both print and digital media for such clients as Disney, Good Housekeeping, Seventeen magazine and Warner Bros. as well as hold positions at Alloy M+M, Real Simple magazine and Macy’s Merchandising Group. From 2008-2009 I took on a bold venture and concepted, created and curated a design store/gallery in Greenpoint, Brooklyn showcasing beautifully handmade and sustainable objects for the home, to wear, to read, to eat and play. From that experience, I hosted the first Greenpoint design conferences and held seasonal art exhibitions featuring both local and national artists. Despite it's short run, the project was a valuable experiment in community based and social design. Currently I'm the senior art director at Martha Stewart Omni Media in the weddings editorial dept. and in my free time I follow my passion for photography. Happy to call Brooklyn my home where I live with my two beautiful children, Jan and Äya.
